Powdersnow’s List of Features – Important

May 26, 2008

Some people think that (Crew) aren’t very active in the Forums. At first i thought they weren’t very active myself, but then one of the crew members Powdersnow replied me with a fantastic explanation here is what he said :

it takes a whole lot of time to answer posts, but very little time to read it. I personally try to be quite active in the forums and I see many crew members are too. The reason we don’t answer posts in the feature request forum is partly that it would demand some pretty steep resources to do that, but partly also because we do not want to get too involved in the users opinions: if we, as crew, start telling users what we think is a good idea and what isn’t, then that would have a negative impact in that people would start telling us “what we want to hear” in stead of what they actually want!

It must be said though, that we can’t read the feature request forum on a daily basis, there is too much information in there for that. What we do instead is this: when we do our planning for the future (perhaps twice each year) we flick through the feature request forums to get a grip of what the users seem to want. I find this a much more efficient solution for us, and one that can actually yield some results.

Roughly two months ago now, I took myself a trip to the feature request forum and spent half a day trying to figure out what people requested the most. I came up with this list, which I distilled and discussed with my superiors (just to reassure you that we DO read the forums):

_________________________________________
- Clans (competitions, rank, clan page, clan badge)
- Practice free kicks and corners
- referee on the field

- choose penalty takers
- before penalties, extra time in cups when tie
- one more (substitute) keeper
- customizable shoes
- customisable soccer balls
- line referee who runs along the offside line
- remove “x”-spot where ball lands (for more unpredictable gameplay)
- at beginning of match, show best scorer and best tackler from each team
- one weekly 500 player cup
- win trophies in cups, leagues and tournaments (displayed in a trophy case)
- completely editable player names (rather than just nicknames)

After this i thought they certainly are active.

Explanation on clan and Instructions

May 22, 2008

WHAT IS A CLAN?A clan is a club or group in Power Soccer.
WHERE YOU CAN FIND A CLAN TO JOIN?
Official clans are usually placed in the community page. After when you are on that page on the right you will see a list of featured clans. Click see all and there will be a list of every clan in power soccer.

HOW YOU CAN JOIN A CLAN?

You can join a clan by visiting the clan homepage or site, and see if you are fit for the clan requirements. If you are fit for the requirements the clan has an email or a place where you can send your details. Later the clan will contact you and let you know if you can join.

HOW YOU CAN FORM A CLAN?

These are the list of thing you need to do to form a clan:
1. Think of the clan name
2. You have to have at least 4 members.
3. Think of the clan requirements (who can join).
4. Create a clan site.
Then send you clan name, clan site address, the name of the members in your clan including yours to powerdersnow’s guestbook. Later your clan will appear in the official clan list.

If you have trouble finding the official clan list click this link:

As powdersnow said, later on this year (probably by summer) Crew will develop a tool for forming clans on this site (so all clans will have a “clan page”). Crew will also develop a clan ranking function and clan competition, where one clan can meet another in different forms of clan matches. Basically, if you form your clan already, you will have a head start on all other clans that will form in the future.

Interview with a MA sipwell

May 17, 2008

[Reporter] washeka: hi sipwell :)

[Master Assistant] sipwell: hello mate

[Reporter] washeka: How old are you sipwell?

[Master Assistant] sipwell: 27

[Reporter] washeka: ok, what other jobs you have in Ps except from MA?

[Master Assistant] sipwell: CA and FA, but that is a consequence of being an MA. I also, together with the other MA, manage the pf_adminapplication mailbox and the pf_admin mailbox (together with some CA’s)

[Reporter] washeka: cool, How long have you been on this site?

[Master Assistant] sipwell: since August

[Master Assistant] sipwell: last year

[Reporter] washeka: ok, have you ever thought of being a crew member or do any other jobs in Ps?

[Master Assistant] sipwell: being a crew member is a paid job and you don’t choose to be it. I did not really consider that. I think powdersnow is doing a great job as community manager. Now they took hogweed on board too, which can only make this game (community wise) better. Another, unofficial job on PS is our clan blog, http://themarxbrothers.blogspot.com where we fool around a bit but where we have a lot of readers

[Master Assistant] sipwell: it is all part of the community I would say!

[Reporter] washeka: ok, do you like or enjoy doing your MA job?

[Master Assistant] sipwell: absolutely! It is nice to help other people and to make this game even better than it is now. You can think ahead, develop new ideas (together with powdersnow) and make sure everything is safe around here. All the MAs want this community to be the most fun place on the internet, and as an MA I have my role to play in that quest

[Reporter] washeka: ok thank you for your time sipwell I enjoyed the great interview with you bye mate

[Master Assistant] sipwell: bye
